Gaios, the capital of Paxos, is a charming and picturesque port that stretches along the waterfront. To get to the port of Gaios you pass two small islands, located at the entrance of the port, one called Panagia and the other Agios Nikolaos. Gaios, in addition to its amazing beauty, offers countless options from shops, taverns, bars, etc. to the visitor. Also, regular speedboats or boats for the beautiful island of Antipaxos with its famous beaches depart from here.
Taking a walk on the cobbled streets of Gaios, you will enjoy the smells and colors of the island settlement. Pastels and intense shades are combined in harmony, with the blue sea in the foreground. It is worth visiting the small, but interesting folklore museum, which is housed in a wonderful building from the 1600s.
For a unique experience, go to the eastern side of Paxos and visit Logos. This small village of less than 300 inhabitants is a hidden treasure. Here you can taste fresh fish in an authentic tavern and enjoy the traditional architecture of the Ionian Islands.
Do not miss to visit Marmari. This beautiful beach is popular and quiet at the same time. Enjoy your bath in the crystal waters and rest under the shade of the olive trees that reach to the sea.
Erimitis beach is a special experience. With its wild beauty and unexpected configuration, it looks like it belongs in a Hollywood period production! It was created literally “overnight” in 2008 after a large landslide, and the residents of Paxos named it Hermit. The sunset captured in your mind here will be a talisman in your thoughts for all winters to come. It is a beach that does not obey the rules and stands out for its unique beauty.
